70 Times 7

70 Times 7 is a site-specific performance and audio installation based in Venice, Italy. It is composed of four narrators who recall the historical event of the Seven Martyrs of Castello, in which seven men were executed by a fascist firing squad on August 3, 1944, along the banks of Riva dei Sette Martiri.

In its ritualistic form, the narration presents a piece of history as a mental artifact. Its repetition of seventy times is meant to cement this piece of history into our memories - preventing it from being easily forgotten.

The performance creates a space of collective reflection about resistance in the past and present as known in this place and all over the world.
